Opportunity Builds Hope

During our weeks of staying at home, so far we have cleaned out closets, played new games, watched tv & movies, started organizing photos, continue to connect with family & friends a, learned to Zoom and are spending time reading and thinking…

During this incredibly sad time of loss and drastic change in our lives, I believe there is light and hope.  We all were forced to slow down, but I think we might consider this the perfect time to contemplate.  As we spend more time at home it is a great opportunity to review our lifestyle, pace of life, and our priorities.  It is so easy to get caught up in fast-paced lives.  Questions to ponder:  What do you need?  What are your priorities?  What do you want out of life?  What do you want your work life balance to look like?  Are there commitments/activities that don’t hold value any longer?  How and where do you spend your time and money?   Is there a way you can use your strengths and talents to invest in a social or economic issue to improve your family life, community?  I would suggest reading the book Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown as a possible starting point.  It could be a family read (for older children) and discussion – leading to creating a new life/family road map together.

We are thinking and praying for all of you, especially those in greatest need.  We extend our gratitude to health care professionals and all other women and men working courageously everyday to help others.

Please consider taking this opportunity, as we rebuild our lives, to allow the light of hope to guide you.

Kindly,

Maria, Laura, Gretchen and Helen
