Sharing your LOVE with a Care Package

February is the month of Valentine’s Day and a wonderful time to sharing our love with others.  COVID weighs heavily on our emotions and has imposed seclusion and isolation on people, especially our seniors. It is known that increased social isolation creates increased risk of dementia, heart disease, neurological disease, anxiety and depression.

During this difficult time of Covid and cold winter months (in some areas), it is vital that we all make an effort to stay connected.   Being connected in mind-body-spirit are all important to create and maintain a healthy balance.

Ideas for seniors esp those isolated at home our in a senior community: Body – physically exercising in some way (pedal exerciser, resistance bands, light hand or ankle weights. Order a bonTop to keep their clothes clean and dry while dining at home or in a senior community.  Mind – keep news tv watching to 30 minutes per day, listen to music, reading a book & sharing ideas with a family member or friend over the phone or internet, children and grandchildren call frequently, send a PhotoShare frame – you can send photos from a smart phone to keep current. Send favorite cookies, a craft kit or the traditional flowers.  Spirit – a meditation, deep breathing, prayer book, rosary -something faith based.

A CARE package will bring joy, hope and connection to a loved one, no matter their age.  Consider doing something LOVING and kind for someone extra this Valentine’s Day.

We wish you Happy Valentine’s Day full of connecting with family and friends, kindness and love.
